It doesn't look like much from this far but this was Jesus' view every time he started to walk from his tiny village of Nazareth to the nearby big city, Tzippori, aka Sepphoris, the capital of Galilee in his time, to find work on one of many construction projects. It only took him an hour to get there. Sepphoris was a center of Jewish ferment against Roman rule and Hellenistic culture. Illustration based closely on a photograph towards Sepphoris from the outskirts of today's Nazareth.
