A drawing of an enlarged fragment of a Sumerian victory stele, known as the "Stele of the Vultures", depicting Eannatum, ruler of the city state of Lagash leading his solders into battle trampling their defeated enemies under their feet. The enemy was the neighboring city Umma with whom the people of Lagash had a dispute regarding a plot of land located between the two cities. The original stele is now in the Louvre.
